Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital Collaborates with Gravity Medical Technology to Advance Stroke Treatment

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in Thailand, affecting more than 300,000 people annually, with around 80,000 requiring surgical intervention. Stroke occurs when brain cells are deprived of oxygen due to abnormalities in the blood vessels, resulting in cell death, disability, and potentially life-threatening complications.
On February 1, 2024, executives from Gravity Medical Technology Ltd., a U.S.-based company specializing in innovative stroke treatment technologies, visited Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital to exchange knowledge and expertise in stroke care. The delegation included Dr. Shashvat Desai from Honor Health/Barrow Neurological Institute, Dr. Dileep Yavagal from the University of Miami, and Dr. Ashutosh Jadhav from Honor Health/Barrow Neurological Institute.
Founded in 2020, Gravity Medical Technology develops cutting-edge biomedical innovations to assist millions of stroke patients worldwide. Partnering with Thonburi Bamrungmuang Hospital, established in 2019, the collaboration aims to provide modern and advanced care for Thai patients.
The new medical device has undergone clinical research since 2015 and expanded trials in 2018. This innovation allows patients to recover more quickly. Among patients treated within 24 hours, over 50% achieved significant recovery and were able to return to normal daily life within three months.
